Why would you use the word "derpy", an ableist slur, instead of one of the other hundreds of words in the English language that mean the sam

I’m sorry, is “derpy” not just synonymous with goofy/awkward? I always thought it was just a lighthearted slang term. If it’s offensive, I certainly apologize and take full responsibility for my ignorance.
