Weekend links and photos
by Aimee
This weekend I moving back and forth between my kitchen and my desk, trying to get ahead in both areas. Somehow a day can hold cake frosting, book writing, photo taking, potty training, dinner making and house cleaning, and the list goes on.
This was supposed to be a quiet month. So much for that. At least life is exciting. Busy, but exciting! Here’s what I loved reading this week:
- How Sharing Food Makes You a Better Person :: Time
- Kabocha squash pie with black pepper and ginger :: Brooklyn Supper
- 11 best tips for big-batch cooking :: Chatelaine Kitchen
- Lentils + Roasted Acorn Squash + Poached Egg :: A Thought for Food
- A little warmth goes a long way – the science of hot drinks :: The Guardian
- Garden keeper’s pie w/ beets, lentils + creamy celery root mash :: The First Mess
A few photos to wrap up the week!
Seeing yourself in a book for the first time is pretty crazy, even if it is only the advanced reader copy with many edits and changes to come. !
This is definitely not my usual mid-November view from the kitchen window, but I’ll take it! Then hens and I are enjoying an extended fall.
Remember all those pumpkins I got for a steal? They finally were turned into purée and made their way into the freezer.
Campfire cocoa is a good way to to make memories and end a day of raking and yard work.
More meals for others, this time for friends of ours who are new parents: pumpkin macaroni & cheese, chopped salad, pickles and pound cake.
Have a wonderful Sunday, all!
