Weekend links and photos

It’s been so wonderful to get back into the kitchen this week after so much recent travel. Clara still asks me daily if I’m “leaving on an airplane”, so I’ve been inviting her to join me at the counter to reassure her I’m home for a good long while.
Together we shopped to re-stock the pantry and prepared a few treats for her birthday brunch: granola, yogourt and ricotta for homemade bagels. Oh, and cake. I’ll be sharing that recipe for banana cake with caramel frosting very soon.
Here’s what I loved reading this week:
- Easy Frozen Yoghurt Easter Shapes :: Roasted – Yes, Easter is in three short weeks. Yes, that is shockingly soon.
- Banh Mi Tea Sandwiches :: Viet World Kitchen – I need these, for lunch, every day.
- Bananas Foster Pudding Chomeur :: Kitchen Heals Soul – Another brilliant dessert twist from Janice.
- The Moon Bar :: Eating from the Ground Up – I can testify to how astonishingly good these road trip snacks are. I will be making them over and over – for all our snacking needs.
- Homemade Irish Cream :: Farmette – It’s easier than you think, and with St. Patrick’s day coming up…well is there any better excuse?
- Everything You Need to Know About Making Doughnuts :: Food52 – I think my Easter brunch is going to feature homemade doughnuts. Who’s coming over??
The week in photos
I couldn’t get out to the market one day, so dinner was completely from the pantry & freezer: pesto fettuccine with garlic shrimp, peas and preserved lemon. Also, What’s this? Sunlight at suppertime? Lovely.
I heard melting this week…and my outdoor eating area is starting to emerge from the snow. Oh, come ON, Spring!
Homemade ricotta, seems like the thing to be making on cold (still) winter days.
Dark chicken stock, yoghurt, granola, ricotta, whey and a vegetable lasagna in the slow cooker. Yep, I avoided doing laundry again this week.
Clara turned three this week. It seems like she was this tiny only yesterday.
Stocking the pantry for recipe development. I love hearing what YOU want me to make; thanks for sharing your feedback on Instagram!
Afternoon tea and biscuits leftover from my London trip.
Have a lovely Sunday, all!
