Weekend Links & Photos
by Aimee
So far my weekend is shaping up to be the complete opposite to our drawn out Easter break, meaning: tranquil.
A drive in the country, a game night with friends and tonight, a re-watch of this film. (by the way, have you seen it? much more than your average romcom)
Easter was lovely, though, and below I’m sharing a few photos from the weekend. As busy as it was, we are blessed to have our family healthy and whole.
I’ve got a great line up of recipes coming to the blog in April – a nourishing do-ahead breakfast, a fast family dinner, and a creative vegetarian ‘whole bowl’ inspired the new cookbook that is about to drop from my friend Allison.
But in the meantime, here’s what I’ve been reading and loving this week:
- Tracy of Shutterbean has been Spring Cleaning her kitchen and the results are impressive.
- ‘Other People’s Food’ is a must-listen series currently airing on the podcast The Sporkful. Fascinating!
- I was equally enthralled and disturbed by the ‘Cooked’ series on Netflix. Have you seen it?
- One of the last people to read it, but this book is changing my life, one page at a time.
- Yes, yes, yes. In Baby’s ‘First Bite,’ A Chance To Shape A Child’s Taste. :: NPR’s The Salt
- I’m fascinated with the author and subject matter of this book. It’s on my list to read next.
For bloggers:
- For the creatives out there: Advice From the Creator of Calvin and Hobbes :: imger
- My friend Kristen of Dine and Dish opened an important conversation this week when she shared her personal struggle with living in excess.
- The Internet is Not Real Life :: Lisa Congdon. How true this is.
- 11 Years of Food Blogging, Losing the Joy of Food and Reconnecting :: Food Republic’s Sneh Roy vocalized many what many food bloggers go through over the years.
We enjoyed some sunshine (and a much needed hit of serotonin for this mama) over Easter weekend….
More than one of us were on a sugar high from Easter candy in this quick snap of our family!
Everyone pitched in to help with Easter brunch. These biscuits, this lassi and this whipped berry butter was on the menu, along with bacon & eggs.
It’s not Easter until there are hand-rolled dark chocolate truffles.
How to keep the kids happy for Easter brunch. See above.
I roasted a butterflied leg of lamb, a variation on this recipe from The Splendid Table. It was indeed splendid. This dish is going on my Sunday dinner menu very soon.
Have a wonderful weekend, all!
